Accessibility
Last updated: November 1, 2026
We want every student to be able to explore careers on OccupationEx. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What we've done
- Checked the main screens and a sample of career simulations with automated WCAG 2.1 AA testing, in both light and dark mode, and fixed every issue found.
- Text and buttons meet AA color contrast, including each career's accent color.
- Buttons and controls have text labels for screen readers, and decorative emoji are hidden from them.
- Dark mode, large tap targets, and layouts that work on phones, tablets, and Chromebooks.
- Sound is off by default.
- Works with browser zoom and the browser's built-in translate.
Known limits
- Automated tools only catch some problems. We're still doing full testing with keyboards and screen readers.
- Some career simulations use timers or quick choices. If timing makes a game hard to play, each career's lessons and facts can still be read at your own pace.
Report a problem
If something is hard to use, please tell us what you were doing and what device and browser you used. Email hello@occupationex.org or use Send feedback in the game's Settings. We'll work on a fix.
