About OccupationEx
A free way to find out what a career is actually like before you spend years and money on it.
Why I made it
I created OccupationEx to help students figure out which career they should pursue. Also, I wrote it as an educational tool to help users have basic background knowledge of each career.
Nathan Klug, creator of OccupationEx
What you can do here
- Explore 159 careers across 13 fields, from nursing and engineering to law, trades, and the arts.
- Learn the basics of each one through short lessons and quick quizzes.
- Work simulated shifts where you make the kinds of decisions people in that job make.
- See what each career pays, how much school it takes, and whether jobs are growing.
- Take a 2-minute match quiz to find careers that fit what you like.
Where the facts come from
Pay, schooling, and job outlook come from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook. Everyday job tasks come from O*NET, the U.S. Department of Labor's job database. The people, companies, and numbers inside the simulations are made up for practice.
